A recent overnight shoot for a local indie film. I finally had an evening available to help, and walked on set to find that there were several people from several different shoots that I knew. It was great to see everyone again. Helped the art department for a bit in hanging some Christmassy things, hiding alcohol labels, and ended up taking a few photos.

This entry features films (pun intended) that are now officially released, and that I had some form of association with. Not only that, I did enjoy each of these and highly encourage you to check them out as well.

(available on Netflix!)
The first feature I had worked on in full, with hotel stay and those 14 to 16 hour days, a personal milestone in my work history and where I met great friends. I worked as grip and filled in for art dept / 2nd AC / still photos. The theatrical screening was packed and one of the most fun premieres I had ever attended. I mean, come on, who doesn't enjoy hearing an audience erupt into both cheer and grimace at the same time? I am proud to have worked on this.

Technically, this was the first feature set I had inadvertently stumbled onto, but I had only helped a tiny bit.. none the less I am also proud to have my name attached to such a provocative film. I once heard this coined as a "Horror Documentary"
Audiences were definitely affected by the extreme controversial subject matter and witnessing the post reactions and discussions were a delight. Some believe it, some don't. It's worth a look, for sure.

And while I'm on it, another feature first (or third, really).. this one being associated with the UK. Though I was never on set or crew, I connected these friends to a local musician friend here for the score of their film (he also does the sound for my animations). Any up and coming no-budget filmmaker should be thoroughly inspired by this huge film, as it was made with a micro-budget and minimal crew. To some this may also be controversial subject matter, but it is entertaining, and yet another film I quite suggest seeing.
_____________
There are a lot of current projects coming up. For the moment I can share with you a link to this next feature that I'll be a doing a bit of animation for. I am very excited about it, particularly the segments about Bishop's Castle. The guy is nuts!

On New Year's Eve I was hired for my first time as a freelance multi-cam video director.. live to not only tape, but to audience via jumbo screen, and for a theater venue that contained 1,100 seats!

Here you can see the follow sheet. It was a jam packed two hour showcase. Perhaps the most challenging job I've had by far, and most definitely in my four years of directing via my normal job through community television.
When the show was finally done my voice was shot and my adrenalin ran high for a straight hour.
